Our Mission
The Emergency Assistance Center's mission is to provide emergency food assistance,
personal hygiene items and clothing to residents in need living in
Northern Summit, Cuyahoga, Geauga, and Lake Counties.

Who Do We Help?
Most individuals asking for our assistance are dealing with problems that are forcing them
to seek outside help for the first time.
These problems include job loss, abandonment or death of a supporting family member,
and medical expenses, such as prescription costs, not covered by insurance.

We want to help anyone who truly needs our assistance, but in order to verify a need really exists,
applicants are required to fill out a detailed application before help is provided.
We do not charge for assistance, however we do encourage recipients to become
involved in our volunteer programs.

How Do People Hear About Us?
Most people are referred by local churches, schools, and social service organizations such as
Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, United Way's "First Call For Help",
and the Western Reserve Outreach Center.

How Do We Help?
The Emergency Assistance Center primarily helps by providing short-term emergency food assistance
for 6 months in the form of non-perishables food items
and when available frozen food items and hygiene products.

We offer many other services as well

We provide gently worn clothing and small household appliances / furniture when available
We provide meal planning, nutritional information, and suggestions as how to best utilize food supplies.
We provide special foods to those with specific dietary needs when available.
We deliver food to those unable to visit our centers (for extreme cases).
We provide names of organizations available to help with
utility payments, medical assistance and temporary housing.
We provide Easter Hams and Baskets, "Share the Harvest" Thanksgiving baskets,
A Christmas "Adopt - A - Family" program and School supplies for students.
We provide Community Service Hours and provide encouragement and positive intervention.

Where Do We Provide Assistance?
We assist families from our main distribution center in
The Summit Plaza, 10333 Northfield Rd, Unit 74D (the arcade) Northfield, OH 44067
and we are in partnership with outreaches in Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake Counties.

How Are We Funded?
We Are Not Government Funded!
We Rely Only On Our Community Support

The Emergency Assistance Center is an independent, privately funded,
not for profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt charitable organization.
We rely on local churches, schools, organizations, businesses to conduct food drives and
local residents, businesses for the necessary financial support to purchase essential non-donated items
and to meet our operating expenses.
